A bill allowing people in the country illegally to obtain driving privilege cards in Nevada has been signed into law by Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval.

When the cards become available Jan. 2, Nevada will join four other states providing a way for immigrants to legally drive on state roadways and obtain insurance.

The DMV will begin issuing Driver Authorization Cards on January 2, 2014. These cards will be marked "Not Valid for Identification" and may be used for driving privileges only.

The DMV is in the process of developing regulations needed to implement this new law. Further details will be posted as they become available.
