LAS VEGAS (KSNV) -- Power bills always jump in the summer and some families struggle to keep up with the cost of keeping cool. That's where help of Southern Nevada steps in.

The group's Weatherization Assistance Program installs energy saving devices for qualified Nevadans like 94-year-old Stella Osinski.

Osinski says the air conditioner in her mobile home was 26 years old.

Crews installed a new one along with solar screens and a new vent. This should cut about $25 off her monthly electricity bill.

“Ooh definitely I don’t get much what I got I try to pay all my bills first and then haven’t bought anything else food take care of myself 47:01

The Energy Assistance Program helps reduce energy bills by making payments directly to the energy company on your behalf.

The Weatherization Assistance Program helps qualified individuals improve the energy efficiency of their homes by adding insulation, weather stripping, and minor home repairs.
