LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- About $1.5 million could be on its way to Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital if a proposal by Gov. Brian Sandoval is approved.

This comes a day after we learned a federal investigation into allegations of patient dumping determined there were a number of deficiencies at the mental facility.

News 3's Marissa Mike has the details.

Since this controversy broke the governor found $8 million more this week to pump into Nevada's beleaguered mental health system. About $1.5 million would go to Rawson-Neal.

We're also learning about a second federal investigation into whether the hospital violated an anti-dumping law.

A federal probe found nearly a third of the Rawson-Neal cases they reviewed, were improperly handled.

Medicare officials found Rawson-Neal staffers fell short in three areas: providing safe discharge, adequate nursing supervision and proper oversight of procedures.

The inspection results highlight patient number one, who News 3 learned was Jamesbrown, a schizophrenic man given a one-way ticket to California.

Problem was, there was no help waiting for him.

Plus another listed deficiency: a suspected case of improper discharge: an Oklahoma diabetic who wasn't given the necessary materials for her two day trip home.
