LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- An online ad sounded too good to be true and it ended with a beating and robbery.
This is a story of a Craigslist scam in that claimed several victims.
News 3's John Treanor has the story and talked with one of those victims and described how this worked.
It’s something most of us have done or will do -- use Craigslist to find a deal.
But an ad for a Samsung Galaxy Note cell phone ended in violence, a scene that played out several times over two months.
Jie Liang found that exact ad on Craigslist in March.
Liang arranged a meeting at the Hampton Apartments but when he got out, cash in hand and two young kids in the car, he was attacked and beaten by three people and robbed.
Police arrested Ozin Henderson and say he was the one that posted the ad and his phone was the bait. Police said it happened two more times.
“I said I do have money with me and then the second guy showing up he said that’s his cousin. And then the third guy is behind me I didn’t know the third guy was behind me and when they’re ready to whomp me they go to punch me in the face and then go for my pockets,” Liang said.
Henderson is awaiting trial. News 3 has been told that he might make a deal with the district attorney.
