LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – A home fire this morning displaced four adults and four children in the 9000 block of Iron Cactus Avenue, near West Pebble and South Fort Apache roads.

Four adults and three children are being assisted by the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross.

According to a news release, Clark County firefighters responded to the call around 3 a.m. The calls were generated by concerned neighbors, and the first-in crews found an occupied house with no residents on scene and heavy smoke showing.

Interior crews were able to bring the fire under control within 10 minutes of making entry, but construction features had allowed the fire to spread to the second floor via a utility chase.

Crews worked to expose all areas that had been damaged by fire and insure that the fire had not extended into hidden areas. With Metro’s assistance, the Fire Department was able to determine the name of the primary resident, and she was contacted and advised of the situation at the home.

The home was badly damaged by heat, smoke, and water leaving it temporarily uninhabitable. The preliminary estimated damage figure was set at $150,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
