LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- We may have some very good news for someone out there watching tonight.

A large sum of money has been found at the Goodwill sorting facility on Cheyenne.

It begs the question: did someone mean to give it to the charity, or was it a mistaken donation?

This report is going to be vague on purpose and at the end you'll understand why.

Yes. Goodwill workers found a large sum of cash. And yes, it could be yours if you call to identify it with the right information within the next 30 days.

Kathy Topp with Goodwill is laughing now but she's very serious about letting the public know something big.

“A large sum of money was found when one of our team members was sorting through donations,” Topp said.

Goodwill not saying how much money was found but sources to News 3confirm--it was a lot and all cash. The reason Goodwill cannot say how much, what denominations or what the cash was in was to give the rightful owner the chance to identify the items and circumstances in which the money was located.

Goodwill policy states when cash is found it waits 30 days to see if the donation was a mistake or if someone comes to claim it. If they put out specific details it'll mess up the process for the rightful owner if the donation was made in error.

The good news at Goodwill is that employees did the right thing. They were honest and turned the money in. Now while they wait the money is protected--and waiting to be identified.

If you're missing a big sum of money and you think you may have tossed it in with a donation to Goodwill, you don't have a lot of time.

The money was found sometime within the last 30 days. If nobody claims the cash, Goodwill will use it to forward their mission of helping people find jobs.
