HENDERSON, Nev. – A Henderson Police Motor Unit officer was injured Wednesday morning when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a car.
Officer Marcus Hudson was travelling eastbound on Sunset Road near Athenian Drive about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday when Victor Perri, 25, of Las Vegas, who was driving a Dodge Charger, also travelling eastbound on Sunset Road, changed lanes and struck the officer’s motorcycle.
The collision caused Officer Hudson to veer to the right and strike a curb.
The officer attempted to maintain control of his police motorcycle and veered back to the left, causing him to strike the side of Perri’s car. The officer was then unable to maintain control of his motorcycle and went down.
The officer sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Perri, who was not injured, voluntarily submitted to blood testing but he did not appear to be under the influence of either drugs or alcohol.
Speed was not considered a factor. Perri also voluntarily allowed the crash data recorder to be pulled from his vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
The roadway was closed for about three hours while accident investigators conducted their investigation.
