LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Metro is offering a little more transparency a week after an officer involved shooting with a press conference held Monday afternoon.

Police say murder suspect Nathan Benson charged at two officers with a butcher knife on April 30, forcing them to shoot him.

News 3's Amber Dixon is live at the Regional Justice Center. Benson is set to be arraigned there May 16.

Police say they wanted to question Benson in the murder of Shanna Fernandez.

Fernandez was said to be the roommate of Benson's mom.

It was April 28 when police say Fernandez was stabbed to death.

They say right before she died she told police Benson was the person who stabbed her. The next day police say they got tips from different people about where to find Benson.

Once police found him they say he started running. Metro has posted the press conference on its YouTube channel.
