LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- A man is dead after a Sunday morning shooting near Boulder Highway and Sahara, according to Metro Police.
LVMPD patrol officers on Dec. 22 responded at approximately 4:25 a.m. to the 3600 block of Boulder Highway to investigate a report of two males fighting and that one had been shot.
Officers found a male lying on the ground suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Patrol officers received information that the other individual involved in the altercation had fled the area on a bus.
Officers located the bus in the area of Bruce and Freemont Street where the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Luis Pimentel, was taken into custody without incident.
LVMPD Homicide Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. It was learned that the victim and Pimentel were known to each other and involved in a heated argument prior to the incident.
The two men began to struggle at which time the victim was shot. As a result, Pimentel was arrested for Murder with a deadly weapon and transported to Clark County Detention Center. A booking photo of Pimentel accompanies this release.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the victim as 29-year old Robert Edward Holland III of Las Vegas.
