LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman will raise some eyebrows with his new book, "Being Oscar."

It is set for release Tuesday, May 21 and as News 3’s Kim and Dana Wagner report, Oscar doesn't hold back.

Before he was the world's happiest mayor, Oscar Goodman was the lawyer to the mob. Something he would never admit back in the day.

None of Goodman’s clients was more notorious than tony "The Ant" Spilotro. Federal agents suspected Spilotro killed 26 people, including a murder depicted in the move "Casino", showing a character based on Spilotro putting a man's head in a vise and squeezing until he was killed.

Goodman represented Spilotro on those and other murder charges and Spilotro was never convicted of anything under Goodman's watch. Goodman says generally, he liked his mob clients.

Another notorious gangster Goodman represented was Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal.

Who was almost bumped off in 1982, when someone planted a bomb in his Cadillac, next to Tony Roma's restaurant on east Sahara. This was an incident also depicted in the film "Casino."

In an exclusive channel 3 video, you see lefty being wheeled away on a gurney. Lefty called Goodman immediately and Goodman showed up while lefty was lying flat on his back.

Oscar Goodman has left quite a mark on Las Vegas. Stories from his time as a lawyer for notorious mobsters, to his efforts to remake the city of Las Vegas can be found in his new book out this week entitles “Being Oscar.”

He shared some of those memories with News 3’s Kim Wagner.
