Pedestrian struck, killed on Tropicana near Maryland

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – A pedestrian was killed this morning after being struck by a vehicle on Tropicana Avenue near Maryland Parkway.

According to a Metro news release, the victim, a man from Las Vegas, was crossing Tropicana Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk from the south side to north side of the street just before 3:45 a.m.

A 2012 Nissan Sentra was traveling west on Tropicana in the right travel lane. The victim was impacted by the front of the Nissan Sentra and thrown forward. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra remained at the scene and was not injured.

This is the 51st traffic-related fatality in the Metro’s jurisdiction for 2013. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
