LAS VEGAS — The Police Fatality Public Fact-finding Review into the October 2012 death of Ronald Morrison will be held at 9 a.m. today at the Clark County Government Center Commission Chambers at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
The review will be aired live on Clark County Television and streamed over the County Internet site at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov.
According to reports, at about 3 p.m. on Oct. 29 officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confronted Morrison outside a retail store on the 2400 block of East Desert Inn Road. Morrison was a suspect in an earlier shooting of a homeless man. Officers shot Morrison after he refused to follow their commands and then pulled a gun out of his waistband.
The review of this incident will be presided over by Osvaldo Fumo. David Fischer will serve as ombudsman. Fumo and Fischer are both longtime local criminal defense attorneys.
Presiding officers and ombudsmen are selected by the county manager from lists approved by the County Commission. The ombudsman represents the public and the deceased’s family in this fact-finding review.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Giancarlo Pesci and Robert Daskas will represent the District Attorney’s Office in this proceeding.
