LAS VEGAS (Las Vegas Sun) -- A second arrest has been announced in a Thursday afternoon raid on an alleged brothel northeast of downtown.
A woman — 35-year-old Maricruz Ortiz-Guevara — was arrested along with Miguel Barahona, 46, on counts of pandering an adult and accepting the earnings of a prostitute, said Lou Pascoe, director of the Southern Nevada Human Trafficking Task Force.
The one-story home that Metro Police say was operating as a brothel for at least several months was at 2404 E. Kirk Ave. An anonymous tip led Metro’s vice detectives to the location, which is near Eastern and Washington avenues, Pascoe said.
When Metro’s SWAT section served a search warrant Thursday at the home, authorities located Ortiz-Guevara and Barahona at the residence, along with three female victims and a possible male client, Pascoe said. All were Hispanic.
Police said they considered the unnamed females victims but did not disclose how they came in contact with Barahona and Ortiz-Guevara.
All of them were adults and were cooperative with authorities, Pascoe said. No one lived at the home full time.
“Whether they’re victims of sex-trafficking — the elements of fraud, force or coercion — that’s still being looked into by the police department,” she said.
