LAS VEGAS – The Professional Firefighters of Nevada recently embarked on a new partnership with the International Association of Fire Fighters and Operation Warm to initiate a “Coats for Kids” Campaign in Nevada.

The goal of the campaign is to provide large-scale donation of winter coats to children in the community, as well as strengthen the suffering manufacturing industry by supporting workforce development through the U.S. (as all coats purchased are 100 percent American-made).

“This year we are joining forces with national organizations in order to help the children in our community,” PFFN President Rusty McAllister said. “We believe every child is entitled to dignity, happiness, and warmth, which is why we are looking forward to implementing these efforts on a statewide level.”

Nevada has an alarmingly high number of schools with 100 percent of the students qualifying for free or reduced-rate meals. Many families are struggling to provide basic necessities, including proper winter coats, which enable them to participate in outdoor activities, an essential component of a healthy body and mind. This is why the IAFF delegates voted in overwhelming support of the Fire Fighters Coats for Kids Foundation in July 2012.

This year, the PFFN are honored to join their cause on a statewide level, and will be reaching out to secure additional sponsorships from the business community, and support of this new initiative.
