LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNew3) -- A man who fought for our nation and his own life is finally being honored for his service.

Army veteran Sergeant Michael Griffith says he remembers the day he was in a battle with combatants in Iraq.

He was shot at least four time .but before he was knocked unconscious he was able to tell others in his unit the enemy's position.

Nearly a decade later, he has received his medal of valor for his actions. It's an award that he should have gotten years ago.
