LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- Several high-profile defendants are scheduled to be in court Monday.

Topping the list is an 8:30 a.m. sentencing hearing for Laketha Moore. She is the North Las Vegas resident charged with first-degree kidnapping and two counts of child abuse, neglect or endangerment with substantial bodily harm.

North Las Vegas police accused Moore o keeping her 4-year-old daughter tied up in her bedroom for several hours a day while she was at work. The girl also had numerous scars and bruises on her bodies, which authorities said were proof of substantial child abuse over a prolonged period of time.

Other cases scheduled for court action:

PUPPY BOUTIQUE FIRE SUSPECTS: Gloria Lee is scheduled for arraignment in 8th District Court for a late January fire she allegedly set at the pet store she owned in southwest Las Vegas. Sprinklers and quick action by Clark County firefighters saved 27 puppies who were doused with gasoline when she and alleged co-conspirator Kirk Bills attempted arson at the Prince & Princess Puppy Boutique on South Rainbow.

No motive has been given for the fire, which caused an estimated $100,000 damage to the building, and left adjacent shops unable to operate because of water and smoke damage.

Bills is scheduled to make his delayed first appearance at 8:15 a.m. in Las Vegas Township Justice Court.

Bills was scheduled to appear last week after being returned from Crown Point, Ind., but defense attorney Roger Bailey asked for additional time for Bills to hire him, and Justice of the Peace Janiece Marshall reset Bills' hearing for Monday.

He was arrested by the FBI and other agencies on Feb. 7 after fleeing from Las Vegas.

If convicted of more than 30 charges, the two could spend decades behind bars.

ARRAIGNMENT FOR TYREE BERRY: Tyree Berry, 18, is facing three counts of first-degree kidnapping, and one count each of burglary with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, and coercion with use of a deadly weapon.

Prosecutors said Berry held a man, a woman, and a 16-year-old hostage by knife-point, forcing the woman to write a blank check. He believed the check would give him access to an inheritance. Prosecutors said there are unnamed co-conspirators involved in this case. Bail was set at $400,000, and Berry was ordered not to have contact with the family.

Berry’s court appearance is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Monday.

BAIL HEARING FOR ZE QIN WU AND ZHI Q. GUO: Two men indicted earlier this month will have a bail hearing in 8th District Court. They face multiple counts of extortion, robbery and coercion. Prosecutors say Wu extorted money by insinuating that he had ties to a Chinese Triad organized crime group in San Francisco. The FBI confirmed to law officials here that the claim was true, describing Wu as extremely violent and dangerous. The DA’s office said Wu had to ties to Las Vegas, traveling between here and San Francisco, and requested a bail of $1 million, which was granted. Bail for Guo, who is in custody, was set at $250,000. Both suspects will have a source hearing in relation to their bail. They return to court at 9 a.m.
