LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- FedEx and UPS drivers hit the road in Las Vegas today, scrambling to make deliveries to angry customers who didn't receive their packages in time for Christmas. The delays occurred throughout the country.
The companies blamed poor weather and higher demand from soaring online sales.
Some customers did not want to wait any longer, and came to the UPS center at McCarran Airport to try and track down the presents that were missing under their Christmas trees. And some had better luck than others.
Jason Butler was one of the unlucky ones who did not get his package on time. He ordered a PlayStation 4 on Amazon for his girlfriend. He says it was supposed to arrive Monday, but it never made it.
Today, he made his third trip to the UPS customer center on East Arby Lane, and he did not leave empty handed. Today, he finally was able to bring the present home.
“I guess just loitering in the parking lot paid off. The security guard came out and said they found the package,” Butler said. “I’m glad it didn’t get lost, or damaged, or stolen, and I guess I’m glad to get some sleep now. I’m glad the ordeal is over.”
The delays were blamed on several factors. UPS called it a perfect storm of problems: Wintery weather in parts of the country, a shorter shopping season between thanksgiving and Christmas, and a surge in online shopping.
UPS sent out a tweet today saying the company will make every effort to get packages to their destination as quickly as possible.
