HENDERSON, Nev. -- Two separate accidents claimed the lives of three people in Henderson on New Year’s Eve.

The first accident occurred at about 10 a.m.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Boulder Highway near Galleria Drive.

Traffic investigators say that a Toyota Camry driven by a 74-year-old female was driving southbound on Boulder Highway against the flow of northbound traffic. The motorist collided with a Pontiac Grand Prix with two occupants.

The male and female occupants were 74 and 72 years old and both died from their injuries.

The second fatal accident occurred at about 2 p.m.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle accident at Boulder Highway at Greenway Road.

A Toyota Corolla driven by a 64-year-old woman was entering Boulder Highway from a shopping center parking lot when she crossed the path of a Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by a 29-year-old man.

A 92-year-old female passenger of the Toyota was transported to the Sunrise Hospital Trauma Unit where she later died from her injuries.

Authorities said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in these accidents.

For 2012, 14 accidents took the lives of 18 people in Henderson.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the names of the deceased.
