LAS VEGAS -- Three road construction projects in Ward 6 will soon be under way, and motorists are advised to proceed cautiously in and around the work zones.

The first project is set to begin Thursday, Dec. 19, and will include the construction of road improvements along Hualapai Way between Centennial Parkway and Dorrell Lane. To have less of an impact on motorists, the majority of this work will take place from Dec. 21 to Jan. 6.

The intent is to get the work done adjacent to Centennial Hills High School while students are on winter break. Work should be completed in approximately six weeks.

All grading, paving, and striping between Centennial and Deer Springs Way is expected to be complete by Jan. 6.

The remaining work north of Clark County 215 will take approximately six weeks beginning Jan. 6. During construction one lane in each direction will still be open to traffic, but delays are expected during peak traffic hours.

The second project will install box culverts along Grand Teton Drive between Durango Drive and Rainbow Boulevard and is set to begin construction in January. The contractor on the $12.3 million project is Las Vegas Paving and it is scheduled to be completed in 14 months. Construction on the project will begin on the east end near Rainbow and proceed west.

The third project has been fast-tracked to add box culverts for flood control along Grand Teton between Hualapai and Tee Pee Lane.

The design of this $6.5 million project is being completed and construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2014. The construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.

Both of these flood control projects along Grand Teton are designed to help address drainage from the Kyle Canyon Detention Basin.
