LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The Clark County grand jury has indicted a suspected gang member for the shooting death of a 14-year-old at a birthday party in January.

Ricky Donnell Brown, 16, was arrested in April in the death of Haji Mohamud at an apartment in the 1400 block of East Reno near Twain. The district attorney’s office said Brown can be charged as an adult since a firearm was used in the commission of the crime.

Brown faces four felony counts: murder; attempted murder; battery and assault, all involving the intent to promote gang activity. Another person at the party was shot twice but survived the attack.

The district attorney’s office also said that threats from the jail have been made against witnesses in this case.

Judge Linda Bell ruled for Brown to be held without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Aug. 26.
