Man arrested in California in Smoke Ranch fatal shooting

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of a man suspected of a homicide Monday morning in the 7100 block of Smoke Ranch Road, near Tenaya.

Brian Beltran, 38, was taken into custody without incident Wednesday in Fresno, Calif. He was booked on a fugitive arrest warrant for murder with a deadly weapon, and will be facing extradition proceedings for transfer to LVMPD.

Kenneth Mallet, 23, of Las Vegas was found around 8:30 a.m. with several gunshot wounds. He was transported to UMC, where he later died.

Metro homicide detectives said Mallet and Beltran were seen together within the complex arguing just before the shooting.
