LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- After nearly four months at hospitals and rehab centers, Eddie Garcia, a man who survived a flesh-eating bacteria infection, returned home Wednesday.

The father of two says he's been looking forward to this day for a long time.

He's learning to use his prosthetic legs after losing them and his hands from recovery complications.

Garcia says he's excited to be mobile again and says this whole experience has taught him to live each day to the fullest.

“I just know that now every little thing I took for granted I’m not going to be taking for granted, whether it's looking out to the city even taking a big breath,” he said. “This time I’m not going to miss those opportunities to just be thankful.”

Once he's more comfortable with his prosthetics, he says he wants to help other amputees and visit those injured during the Boston Marathon.
