HENDERSON – A 51-year-old man apparently upset that he could not immediately speak with a pastor plowed his car into the entrance of a Henderson church Wednesday, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

Kevin M. Wilson, of Las Vegas was confronted by a Henderson police officer inside the Central Christian Church at 1001 New Beginnings Drive about 5 a.m. Wednesday and taken into custody. He was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on burglary and destruction of property charges.

Wilson apparently went to the church several times Tuesday demanding to meet with church officials. He was asked to make an appointment, but declined and returned several times making the same demand. Then shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday the church’s alarm system activated and a car could be seen driving inside the building on the surveillance cameras.

Wilson is accused of driving up to the church Wednesday morning and smashing some windows from the outside. Then he is accused of driving his Kia Spectra through an entrance of the church into a hallway. He then got out of the car to break furniture and knock holes in the wall. Wilson then got back into his car and continued to drive it down the hallway causing damage to the building.

His car came to a stop inside the church and he got out again causing damage to the building until the officer arrived at the church and took him into custody.

A city of Henderson building inspector examined the church and found there was no structural damage caused by the incident.

Church officials said the building is open for normal business and services.
