Suspects dressed as missionaries rob, assault victim

Metro detectives are asking for help to track down two men who used religion to gain a local homeowner's trust before robbing the man. News 3's Denise Rosch is looking into the case and shows us why surveillance video could help put these crooks behind bars.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is searching for two men dressed as Mormon missionaries who are suspected of committing a residential robbery near Flamingo and Buffalo.

According to a news release, the suspects knocked on the victim's door about 6:20 a.m. June 27 and asked to speak to him about religion.

The victim spoke to them for approximately five minutes and was then jumped and punched by the suspects. The suspects demanded property from the victim while holding him at gunpoint. Once receiving property from the victim, the suspects fled.

The first suspect is described as a white male, 22 to 28 years old, 5-foot-7 or 5-8, and weighing 130 to 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black tie, black pants and black shoes. He was carrying a black backpack and was armed with a handgun.

The second suspect is described as a black male, 22 to 28 years old, 5-10 to 6-1, 190 to 210 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black tie, black pants and black shoes.
