Suspect accused of pulling gun on officers identified

LAS VEGAS (KSNV – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released the identity of a man arrested in a child pornography investigation which escalated into an officer-involved shooting with SWAT officers.

Patrick Malone, 31, is at the Clark County Detention Center, facing two counts of assault on protected person with a deadly weapon and one count of resisting a public officer with a deadly weapon.

According to a release from Metro, a search warrant was served around 9 a.m. Thursday in support of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Internet Crimes Against Children detail for possession and distribution of child pornography.

The SWAT officers made entry into the residence and began the search. While inside, the officers focused their attention on a closed bedroom door. Officers opened the door and encountered a male pointing a handgun at them. Officers fired at the suspect, at which time the male dropped his firearm.

No one was struck or injured as a result of the shooting.
