LAS VEGAS (KSNV – Local law enforcement officials today announced the arrest of more than two dozen people in a four-year undercover investigation into outlaw motorcycle gangs in the Las Vegas Valley and several other states.

The investigation, which began in 2009, resulted in 25 arrests with another seven yet to be apprehended. This afternoon 15 defendants appeared in federal court to face charges to be detailed later by U.S. authorities.

Arrests were conducted over the past few days by several hundred law enforcement officers.

At a news conference this afternoon, Metro Assistant Sheriff Greg McCurdy said the arrests will put a major dent in violent crime. Law enforcement officials were able to infiltrate several gangs, they said. Handguns, long guns and drugs were confiscated as part of the arrests.

Arrests were being conducted in Nevada, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Hawaii and New York.

Seven people arrested locally  face state charges in addition to federal charges.

Metro released details on three of the seven. Another man arrested has not been booked yet and three more were arrested in Hawaii.

George Ward faces charges for sale of controlled substance. Chad Kruger and Steven Shaw face charges for theft, insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit theft and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.

During a raid, police discovered 43 firearms, 7.5 pounds of methamphetamines, 160 grams of cocaine, more than 2,000 prescription pills and $8,000 in cash.
