LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- More than 200 groups have thrown their names in the ring to run marijuana dispensaries or grow operations in Clark County.

These businesses are now being forced to list everyone involved with their companies. This latest change is part of what county commissioners call "a fight for transparency."

Transparency is the main concern for the county when it is essentially legalizing drug dealing, a sale that the federal government still says is illegal.

When Clark County started accepting applications for medical marijuana businesses they expected a lot of attention. They got it with more than 200 applications for dispensaries, grow operations and laboratories.

The County Commissioners expected names from Nevada, Colorado and Arizona, but commissioners expected to see names of people

What they got were LLC's or Limited Liability Companies. There is plenty of interest but no clue from who.

Too many limited liability companies in an industry the county says there's plenty of liability in. To answer some of those unanswerable questions, Sisolak and the rest of commission voted for an adendum so that everyone connected to the business has to be listed.

"We thought this was the easiest way to do it, put the burden on the applicant and say OK who are the people," said Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak.

If the county did it because of concerns, they may have created concern with some of the businesses.
