LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- UNLV has had an interim athletic director since the resignation of Jim Livengood and now Tina Kunzer-Murphy is making some changes to the department.

This is something that seems to happen to thousands of companies around the nation each year and universities aren't immune to these things either.

But that is exactly what UNLV interim athletic director Kunzer-Murphy announced to department staff this week is that there were going to be mandatory pay cuts and there was nothing employees could do about it except try and find difference jobs.

The whole plan was put together by Kunzer-Murphy and UNLV President Neal Smatresk but by doing something unpopular now allows the new full-time athletic director to step in with a better budget.

Affected employees have until Aug. 5 to either accept their new positions or quit

Nobody is getting fire. The changers mean just a pay cut for certain positions.

Kunzer-Murphy did not know if that included a pay cut to the new athletic director salary compared to Livengood’s $350,000 a year he made.
