LAS VEGAS (KSNV - UNLV sophomore forward Savon Goodman, who was set to sit out the season because of off-court troubles, has decided to leave the program, head coach Dave Rice said Friday.

“I have enjoyed my time at UNLV and am thankful for the support of the fans, my teammates and coaches since I have been here,” Goodman said in a news release. “However, I have felt a lot of pressure the last few months. I feel it is best for me to leave the program at this time. Even though I am from Philadelphia, I will always think of Las Vegas as another home.”

Goodman has been implicated in a burglary case during the summer, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

A Las Vegas Township Justice Court document indicates that a warrant was issued for Goodman's arrest on Aug. 15. It lists conspiracy to commit burglary, a gross misdemeanor, and burglary and grand larceny, both felonies. The incident behind the charges is alleged to have occurred May 18. Goodman has not been convicted of any charges.

As a freshman in 2012-13, Goodman appeared in 27 games for the Rebels, playing in just over nine minutes per contest. He averaged 3.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 46.3 percent from the field.

“I respect Savon's decision and will always be here to support him,” Rice said. “I wish him all the best.”

Goodman came to UNLV from Constitution High School in Philadelphia.
