Former astronaut pushes lawmakers on gun-control bill

CARSON CITY (KSNV & MyNews3) -- In the continuing gun debate, Captain Mark Kelly, husband of wounded congresswoman Gabby Giffords, was in Carson City. News 3's Mackenzie Warren had a chance to speak with him about the background checks for gun owners.

Captain Kelly spoke to lawmakers and took some time to talk with News 3 Capitol Correspondent Mackenzie Warren.

Captain Kelly calls it an unfinished mission. He was commander of the space shuttle Endeavor years ago and now he travels the country pushinng for stronger gun laws.

Kelly's wife, former Arizona congresswoman Gabby Giffords, has become a face of the debate after she survived a mass shooting in Arizona. They're bringing their fight to Nevada.
