SAN DIEGO (AP) — A former San Diego police officer has been ordered to stand trial in one of several sexual assault cases that have rocked the department.

A judge on Wednesday ordered 30-year-old Christopher Hays to stand trial on two felony counts of false imprisonment and three misdemeanor counts of sexual battery.

The alleged incidents, denied by Hays who has pleaded not guilty, involved four women during the late months of last year.

U-T San Diego reports that three of the women testified during the hearing that Hays touched them inappropriately and sexually during pat-down searches.

Superior Court Judge Charles Rogers said he found the women credible in ordering the trial.

Sexual assault allegations and other misconduct reports have led to two federal investigations against the San Diego Police Department.
