LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Some unemployed Nevadans say they are running out of money and patience. The state's employment office is overhauling its computer system, and people are having trouble filing claims on the new system.

The state is aware of the problem but people News 3 spoke with say they're not working fast enough to solve it.

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation says the majority of claims have been processed, but some people say they have yet to receive a check and now they are on their second week without money.

The department says 600 lines are open to take calls on top of an automated system.

The new online system is up and running, but it's only working in increments to prevent it from crashing. The office asks recipients to be patient.

If you are filing a new claim, DETR officials say to try online. However, with a continuing claim, use the phone lines.

The Telephone Claim Centers will be open on Saturday, September 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For callers on the telephone queue by 1 p.m., the call center will take the call. ESD will backdate all late claims.

Office Hours: Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

New calls are not accepted after 4; all calls will be assisted if you contact the Call Center by 4 p.m.

Call Center will have reduced staff on the listed dates:
  • Northern Nevada -- (775) 684-0350
  • Southern Nevada -- (702) 486-0350
  • Rural Nevada & Out-of-State -- (888) 890-8211
If you are unable to reach the department through its main numbers: (775) 684-0350 and (702) 486-0350, try the numbers below:
