LAS VEGAS -- It's been a little over two months since Las Vegas Fire & Rescue ended their 'dual response policy' with American Medical Response to take on more patient transports.

One reason for the change was to bring in more money for the department.

A report released by a research firm retained by AMR suggests Las Vegas Fire & Rescue is showing preference to higher-income areas, where transports tend to be more lucrative.

Today the mind behind those controversial numbers is talking about how he arrived at them.

Analyst Jeremy Aguero dissected around 5,000 transports that took place throughout Las Vegas in the month of March.

Aguero said the city's desire to take over transports in specific areas dates back to before the policy change.

"The city of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue essentially cherry picking higher income, insured transports," Aguero said.
