ANIMAL DUMPING: Tax payers pay the tab for unwanted pets

LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- We all remember the 27 puppies that ended up at Lied Animal Shelter after their pet store was set on fire. That case sparked outrage at how the animals were treated and shock over how much it cost to care for the dogs.

News 3's Reed Cowan has more on his investigation “Repeat Offender Animal Surrender."

When any animal is dropped off, taxpayers end up footing much of the bill.

The numbers of animals left at Lied every year is staggering and sad

The Lied Animal Shelter is one of the highest volume shelters in the entire country and residend pay for every animal left there.
