LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) — Nearly three years after her brutal slaying, Alyssa Otremba was remembered this morning by friends, family and the community with a permanent memorial to her life.
A tree, bench and rock were dedicated to Alyssa’s memory on the northeast corner of North Tee Pee Lane and Grand Teton Drive.
“The concerns, the prayers the thoughts have gotten me through every single day,” said her mother, Jennifer. “Regardless of what happens, this community has come together and just touched our lives.
Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross also spoke at the ceremony.
Alyssa, 15, was attacked and stabbed to death Sept. 2, 2011, just blocks from Arbor View High School. Her badly burned body was found the next day.
Javier Righetti, 22, is awaiting trial for the slaying. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 24.
