LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross urges the community to consider donating to Red Cross Disaster Relief so that when a disaster strikes, assets can be mobilized without hesitation.

This is a difficult time because of the uncertainty of the situation for so many families. In times of disaster and tragedy, the Red Cross deploys mental health and spiritual care volunteers to care for families who’ve lost loved ones or who are waiting for word on the missing.

Due to the devastation in the area, mass care volunteers have opened shelters that have provided more than 100 overnight stays to people who have no place to go. More than 6,600 meals and snacks have been provided to survivors and first responders.

The tragic loss of life and emotionally draining uncertainty of this landslide will make recovery even more challenging for the people there. The Red Cross is already providing support and help – and will be there in the weeks and months ahead.

Donations to Red Cross Disaster Relief allowed us to respond immediately to this landslide and are providing help right now when the Oso community needs it most.

Red Cross Disaster Relief allows the non-profit to respond to disasters big and small – 70,000 disasters every year around the country.

Here are some ways to help:

  • Visiting
  • Calling 1-800-RED CROSS
  • Texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation
Your help allows the American Red Cross to help disaster victims anywhere, anytime.
