LAS VEGAS -- The 25 puppies saved from a January pet store fire will be put up for adoption through a joint effort between The Animal Foundation and A Home 4 Spot.

Meanwhile, the two older dogs will be placed with A Home 4 Spot animal rescue group, under a settlement reached today.

The Clark County District Attorney’s Office, The Animal Foundation, and an attorney representing the Prince & Princess Pet Shop announced the settlement agreement, which resolves the lawsuit filed in District Court.

“I was impressed with the professionalism of the parties involved and their attorneys for their willingness to come together and resolve this case in the best interest of the dogs and the community,” Judge Jerry Wiese said. Judge Wiese moderated the settlement conference this morning.

“I am glad that we were able to reach an agreement that will get these dogs into loving homes soon,” District Attorney Steve Wolfson said.

“This agreement puts the interests of the animals ahead of all other concerns,” said Jacob Hafter, attorney for the Prince & Princess Pet Shop.

“It is an honor to represent The Animal Foundation and partner with all involved to find a way to get these dogs into forever homes,” said Lisa Zastrow, a partner with the law firm Kaempfer Crowell.

“I am excited to get these puppies into loving homes, and look forward to continuing to work with A Home 4 Spot and our other rescue partners in the future,” The Animal Foundation Executive Director Chris Robinson said.

Under the terms of the settlement, The Animal Foundation will hold a drawing to select prospective owners of each puppy.

Tickets for the drawing will cost $250 each. The tickets will be available through The Animal Foundation website at before Monday. The date of the drawing will be announced soon.

After the drawing, the prospective puppy owners will be vetted by The Animal Foundation and A Home 4 Spot.

The proceeds from the tickets that are not selected will be used to subsidize future placements with the more than 70 rescue organizations that partner with The Animal Foundation.
