LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- A 13-year-old girl is sexually assaulted at knife point at a local school, allegedly by a southern California man with a long rap sheet.
The assault took place yesterday morning at C.W. Woodbury Middle School on Harmon and Sandhill. News 3's Fatima Rahmatullah talked to a criminal analyst to find out the assailant's psyche.
This 48-year-old ex-con Richard Martin Schlacta has a long rap sheet in California.
Former Lieutenant Randy Sutton says this situation could have gotten more violent.
"Had this young girl not had the presence of mind to do what she did and escapes. These situations can escalade could've resulted in even more violence," Sutton said.
Sutton says we're dealing with an extremely dangerous individual.
“He has shown propensity for extreme violence by the actions that he did here it also shows from the rap sheet that We know he's got it shows a huge escalation,” Sutton said, adding a guy like this usually has done something like this before.
“This is a compulsion that is rarely a one-time occurrence I would venture to guess he got caught this time that doesn't mean he hasn't committed these offenses at another time,” Sutton said.
Records show Schlacta was convicted several times since 1993 in LA and Orange County.
He's been convicted of felony drug, burglary, stolen property, vehicle theft and resisting police.
