Clark County grand jury indicts suspect in pet store arson

LAS VEGAS (KSNV — A Clark County grand jury this morning indicted a woman suspected of setting her pet store on fire and endangering nearly 30 puppies.

Gloria Lee, 35, faces 31 counts of arson, conspiracy, burglary, and attempted animal cruelty.

Lee was arrested Jan. 29, two days after the early morning fire at the Prince and Princess Puppy Boutique at 6800 South Rainbow Boulevard, according to a news release from the Clark County district attorney’s office.

Firefighters were able to rescue all 27 puppies from the store.

Lee’s bail amount of $310,000 was upheld by Judge Linda Bell; her next hearing is scheduled for 8 a.m. Feb. 24.

An accomplice, Kirk Bills, was arrested Feb. 7 in Crown Point, Ind. He is on his way back to Las Vegas.

Also indicted today were:

Ze Qin Wu and Zhi Q. Guo, 29, on multiple counts of extortion, robbery and coercion. Prosecutors say Wu extorted money by insinuating that he had ties to a Chinese Triad organized crime group in San Francisco. The FBI confirmed to law officials here that the claim was true, describing Wu as extremely violent and dangerous.

The DA’s office said Wu had to ties to Las Vegas, traveling between here and San Francisco, and requested a bail of $1 million, which was granted. Bail for Guo, who is in custody, was set at $250,000. Both suspects will have a source hearing in relation to their bail. They return to court at 9 a.m. Feb. 24.

Steven Rose, 33, Brent McFarland, 28, and Danny Joe Davis, on one count each of establishing or possessing a financial forgery laboratory, and conspiracy to commit establishing a financial forgery laboratory.

Rose and McFarland are in custody on unrelated charges. Each is facing a $22,000 bail. Their next hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 26.

Gregory Peek, on one count each of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and possessing personal identifying information. Peek returns to court at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 27.

Jody Terell Hunt, 33, on two counts of attempted murder and one count each of conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery with use of a deadly weapon, battery, discharging a firearm, and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon. He returns to court at 8 a.m. Feb. 24.
