(NBC News) The three women who were held captive for nearly a decade in a Cleveland home have released video statements thanking the community for its support.

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight escaped from that home on May 6.

Their accused captor, Ariel Castro, remains locked up.

He's charged with hundreds of counts including kidnapping, rape and murder.

His trial is scheduled to begin August 5th. He was not mentioned in the video statements.
