LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- On Wednesday, the Salvation Army warehouse had nothing but mayonnaise, turkey chunks and ramen to work with, a troubling sight for food drive coordinator Michael Wells.

“To tell you the truth we would have run out of food by tomorrow,” Wells said on Thursday.

The stock dwindled over the past few months with an increase in need and a decrease in donations. In the spring, the Salvation Army helped 130 families a day. Now, it's up to 200 each day.

So when the Salvation Army sent out a cry for help, the community came forward, giving the a few weeks’ worth of supplies overnight, including one donor who walked in and hand the charity $10,000 to go shopping for food.
