LAS VEGAS, NV – August 13, 2013 – KSNV News 3, the local NBC affiliate for Southern Nevada, is proud to announce another expansion to its news operations with the addition of newscast, “News 3 Live at 3,” starting August 19, 2013.
In making the announcement, Lisa Howfield, General Manager of KSNV, said “The time has come for a local television station to thoroughly cover the relevant stories in southern Nevada. That TV station is KSNV.”
This expansion follows an announcement earlier this year that KSNV was expanding its news operation by adding a Monday through Friday newscast at 7 p.m.
Veteran Las Vegas news anchor Jeff Gillan has been named to anchor “News 3 Live at 3.” Gillan joins an on-air lineup that includes Jessica Moore and Jim Snyder, who will co-anchor the new 7 p.m. newscast; Marie Mortera and Gerard Ramalho will co-anchor News 3 Nightly at 6 p.m.; Mackenzie Warren and Reed Cowan will take over the 11 p.m. newscast anchor slots.
Howfield said “We have not forgotten the fans of Days of our Lives” adding, “we have made arrangements with NBC and Sinclair Broadcast Group to broadcast Days of our Lives at its normal time 1:00 p.m. each day.”
“Days of Our Lives” fans will not miss a day of the soap opera as it will air starting Monday, August 19 on “The CW Las Vegas KVCW” Channel 6 on Cox Communications and Channel 33 on DirecTV, Dish, and over the air.
On August 19, “The Doctors” and “Dr. Phil” will begin being seen one hour earlier at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. respectively.
“KSNV News 3 is further developing its partnership with NBC to incorporate the networks expanded list of franchises into “News 3 at 3” while maintaining a strong focus on local issues” said Howfield.
Gillan, the Managing Editor of News 3, is an award-winning journalist who earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown and his Masters in Journalism from American University.
Gillan will continue to co-anchor the weekly business program “Vegas Inc.,” with Dana Gentry.
Robert Stoldal, Executive Vice President of News for Intermountain West Communications Company said, “Over the past 36 months News 3 has added both newscasts, and news and information shows including interview and commentary programs including Ralston Reports, and The Agenda.”
Stoldal added, “Now we are adding two additional newscasts to provide southern Nevada with not only more in-depth programming, but at times viewers want in their busy lives. Las Vegas is not a 9 to 5 town, and News 3 is their full time news source.”
