LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- A News 3 investigation into the Metro police helicopter division has lead to more questions.

News 3 is not the only organization taking on the story. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that a Metro Lieutenant wants the Clark County District Attorney to investigate.

News 3's Reed Cowan spoke with the District Attorney's office and received an email in response, confirming the DA is actively investigating Lieutenants Gawain Geudry's claims.

The District Attorney's office said Geudry sent his police union representative to the District Attorney's office requesting "whistleblower status."

Geaudry is a pilot and held rank at Metro’s chopper division. He wants to encourage a Nevada law to protect peace officers from retaliation for revealing misconduct.

In 2012, after some incidents involving Metro's chopper division, Geaudry began a seven-month internal investigation into the unit. The Review-Journal reported that Metro's administration had pulled the plug on Geaudry's investigation.

Reports say Geaudry wants to know if a law was broken by Metro choosing to "bury" Geaudry's report.

Just hours before officer David Vanbuskirk fell to his death from a Metro chopper, Geaudry alerted Metro administration to what he called "concerns about "decades-long issues" in the air unit" and disagreed with the halting the investigation.
