Flash flood watch issued for southern Nevada

UPDATE 3 p.m.: The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a flash flood warning for south central Clark County in southern Nevada until 6 p.m.

10:30 a.m:
The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of northwest Arizona, California and Nevada until 9 p.m.

Affected Nevada areas may include: Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Las Vegas valley, Lincoln County, northeast Clark County, Sheep Range, southern Clark County, Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon and western Clark and Southern Nye counties.

A very unstable and moist air mass is in place across southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and eastern San Bernardino counties.

Showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing very heavy rainfall and very high rainfall rates.

Locations impacted by these thunderstorms may observe 1 to 2 inches of rainfall in a very short period of time. Conditions may change extremely rapidly with the onset of rain.

9:45 a.m.: 
The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a flood advisory for minor flooding of urban areas in central Clark County until 12:45 p.m.

At 9:40 a.m., National Weather Service radar indicated moderate to locally heavy rainfall along Lake Mead and Charleston boulevards south of Nellis Air Force Base.

Locations impacted include mainly rural areas of central Clark County.
