Henderson apartment fire causes $75,000 in damage

HENDERSON (KSNV -- A fire at a three-story apartment building slightly injured an occupant and a firefighter and caused about $75,000 in damage early Saturday morning.

Shortly before 7 a.m., the Henderson Fire Department responded to a structure fire near Marks and Galleria.

The first engine arrived to find heavy fire and smoke showing from a garage of a the building. Occupants of the apartment were at home. They called 911 and exited the structure.

An offensive fire attack was organized and the fire knocked down. One sprinkler head was activated just inside the interior door from the garage into the apartment and contained the fire to a garage. There was no extension into the other apartments.

One man, an occupant of the apartment and one firefighter suffered minor burns to their hands and were treated and released at the scene. There were no other injuries.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist with four adults who were displaced. 

The cause is under investigation. The total loss is estimated at $75,000.
