HENDERSON -- A Henderson man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the apparent stabbing death of his father in their home.
Frank H. Nichols III was booked into the Henderson Detention Center Tuesday afternoon on a murder charge after he was treated at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals–Siena Campus for minor injuries sustained in the fight with his father.
Nichols, 21, called Henderson police 9-1-1 about 11 a.m. Tuesday saying someone had assaulted his father inside the home in the 900 block of Ambusher Street, near Stephanie Street and Patrick Lane. Officers arrived and found a man dead inside the home.
Nichols said he was in the backyard when he heard yelling coming from inside the house. When he entered the home, he saw a man dressed all in black running out the front door. He said he pursued the person but could not catch him. Officers searched the area and found no one.
It was apparent early on in the investigation that the intruder story Nichols told was not supported by the evidence. He later told detectives he got into an argument with his father and then stabbed him.
The name of the slain man will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his family has been notified. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
The man’s death is the third murder in Henderson this year.
