HENDERSON (KSNV MyNews -- A 37-year-old Henderson man was killed early Saturday morning when his Ford Expedition failed to negotiate a right-hand curve on U.S. 95 in the southeast part of the valley.

About 5:15 a.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle on its roof on the left side of the road.

A preliminary investigation determined that a blue 2008 Ford Expedition was traveling southbound on the U.S. 95 southbound off-ramp to State Route 564 (West Lake Mead Boulevard) when it failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway.

The vehicle continued off the roadway into the rock covered east shoulder and up the concrete embankment. The vehicle became airborne where it struck the bottom flange of a metal "I" beam of the overpass. The vehicle landed on its roof and struck a concrete column. The vehicle came to rest facing northeast on its roof.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed was a factor. A toxicology report and notification of next of kin is pending.
