LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- News 3 is investigating a new street drug that has prompted police and doctors to sound the alarm. The drug is a heroin knockoff called Krokodil.

Metro police wouldn’t agree to an interview to News 3 about Krokodil, but many others were eager to get the word out.

A judge in drug court shared a presentation Metro brought to him with the message -- “Get informed, get ready.”

Krokodil destroys the body from the inside out. Krokodil looks just like heroin, according to Metro’s information.

It’s injected, and dark scaly lumps appear.

Doctors say that within days the lumps turn into open wounds.
