Search continues for missing swimmers at Lake Mead rec area

BOULDER CITY (KSNV – Crews continue to search today for two men who went missing Sunday in the waters of Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

At 11:43 a.m. Sunday, a visitor notified a ranger that a person was missing at Lake Mohave south of Willow Beach. Later reports indicated that the man, 53, jumped off a boat to go swimming and was seen going under water.

At 2:21 p.m., the Lake Mead Interagency Communication Center received a 911 call reporting that a 25-year-old Las Vegas man had gone missing while swimming near Boulder Islands on Lake Mead.

Supervisory Park Ranger Mark Hnat said neither man was wearing a life jacket. Winds were measured between 20 and 30 mph.

Also, a 22 year-old-man who was rescued from a near drowning Sunday from Ski Cove at Lake Mohave is in critical condition at UMC.
