Las Vegas 51s complete sweep of visiting Express

LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- The 51s defeated the Round Rock Express, 8-3, to sweep the four-game series and to extend their winning streak to a season-high seven straight games in the final regular season home game before a crowd of 3,808 at Cashman Field.

Las Vegas, 7-1 on the eight-game homestand, improved to 80-60 (.571) on the season and Las Vegas has now compiled back-to-back 80-win seasons for the first time in the 32-year franchise history (1983-2014).

Las Vegas right-hander Noah Syndergaard improved to 9-7. He pitched 6.2 innings and allowed 7 hits, 1 run, walked 1 and struck out 9 on 110 pitches with 80 strikes thrown.

Catcher Kevin Plawecki was 4-for-4 with two home runs and 3 RBI.

The 51s will conclude the 2014 regular season with a four-game road trip at Albuquerque, N.M., against the Isotopes from Thursday-Monday, Aug. 28 to Sept. 1.

The PCL Conference Championship Series (Best 3-out-of-5) will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m. against Pacific Northern Division winner Sacramento or Reno.
